The second production process often starts by pulling standard insulated wire from the singles wire Kanbans and turning it into numbered twisted pairs. All twist machines number one leg of each pair, twist them together and apply shielding tapes and drain wires (ground wires) as needed. Modern, well maintained equipment and trained operators ensure that the conductors are properly marked and not damaged during this critical process.
